‘Frog Bread’ Is The Latest Food Trend The Internet Is Hopping On

Published

on

This might just be the recipe your quarantine has been kneading.

Quarantine has brought out the baker in all of us. Baking aisles are being wiped out so quickly you’d think there was a free roll of toilet paper being given away with every bag of flour. Out of the baking frenzy is bound to come new trends and the latest one will have you hopping with excitement.

“Frog bread” has been popping up all over social media and don’t worry, eating it won’t leave your tongue covered in warts. The creation is as simple as it sounds: bread formed into the shape of a frog. Like any baking project however, there is room for error and sometimes the shapes bake unevenly which turns your frog into blob. But when all the elements work together perfectly, you’re left with a perfect loaf of frog bread. The real question is if you kiss your dough do you end up with a bread prince? Asking for a friend of course.

There is a detailed recipe floating around the web from 2005 and while we don’t know why it is trending 15 years later, we can all agree that now is the perfect time to try this trend.

The Dough

6 cups unbleached flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons yeast
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups lukewarm milk
1/4 – 1/2 cup water

Mix together all of the dry ingredients. Mix in the milk and enough water to make everything form a doughy ball. Turn the ball out onto a flat surface and knead for approximately 10 minutes. Return it into a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for approximately 90 minutes until the dough has doubled in size. Then take your dough and begin shaping your frog!

The Newest (Strangest) Viral Food Hack Involves ‘Milking’ Cucumbers

Published

on

We couldn’t figure out a less innuendoed term for this?

There are too many obvious puns with this one so let’s just dive right in shall we? There is a new food hack sweeping the internet and it involves “milking” cucumbers.  It sounds odd and looks worse but it’s supposed to make your cucumbers taste less bitter. Didn’t realize that was such a problem we were facing but hey, I love a good hack regardless of how insignificant it may seem.

TikTok user @basicallyperkfect shared the trick after learning it from her sister in law. Apparently, if you cut off the tip of a cucumber and rub it together with the remaining cucumber, a milky, white residue will build up and draw out all of the bitterness from the gourd. The TikTok user said the substance drawn out was “like cheese” which ironically drew out all the nausea from my stomach. According to BuzzFeed, this process helps to release cucurbitacin, a biochemical plants use as a defense against herbivores, and results in a fresher, sweeter tasting cucumber. Ok, that’s cool and all but did we really have to call it “milking?”

At the very least you can freak out your friends buy asking if they want to watch you milk a cucumber. Take a look at the entire process below and happy milking!

This Guy’s Cooking Videos Are Like Funny, Little Action Movies

Published

Ever wondered what it would be like if Deadpool made a grilled cheese?

The video sharing app, TikTok, has everyone from juniors to geriatrics uploading hilarious content like whacky dance moves, viral challenges and so much more…seriously, it’s an absent-minded-scroller’s dream. Well one user, Joshua Weissman, has taken to the app to share his unique brand of cooking tutorials and let’s just say his humor is as sharp as his knife skills.

You know how Ina Garten has made a career out of using calm tones and hosting quiet dinner parties? Weissman’s videos are absolutely nothing like that. Instead, the TikTok chef has a way of editing his videos to make them feel like 60-second action movies, complete with a wise cracking hero. Our hero, Weissman in this case, speeds through the videos while quickly instructing fans how to make some pretty delicious foods. The humor explodes when his food falls to the back burner…pun totally intended…as Weissman drops kitchen props, shouts expletives or seizes an opportunity to zoom in on his glutes. Bet Ina never thought to do that…

A chill grilled cheese.

Sure, the videos are a bit goofy but his cooking talents are actually impressive! Weissman’s videos contrast what we normally think of cooking tutorials but that makes them much more memorable.
