Domino’s Reveals The Best Methods For Reheating Leftover Pizza



Wait…you guys don’t finish your whole pizza in one sitting?

As long as there has been pizza there has been soggy leftovers. It seems like no matter how hard you try to avoid a mushy mishap there’s just no way to perfectly recreate that fresh from the pizzeria quality…until now that is. The official Instagram for Domino’s in Australia has been sharing #SliceHacks to help teach us the best ways to reheat their leftover pizza and spoiler alert, none of them include eating a slice straight out the fridge at 3am…sadly.

Microwaving pizza is usually met with disastrous results. The dough gets soggy and the cheese and sauce never seem to heat up at the same rate leaving one chilled and the other one scalding hot. Well, according to Domino’s you can actually microwave pizza without ruining it as long as you place a glass of water in the microwave while reheating the pizza. The glass of water sucks up the moisture that would normally go into the dough. Could it really have always been such a simple solution?!

The hacks don’t stop there though, the pizza specialist demonstrates a number of techniques in the ongoing social media series with some working better than others. Taking two slices of pizza to make a “pizza sandwich” and reheating on a waffle iron seems to be a fun and effective way to enjoy the leftovers according to the video.

The expert also shares a technique of turning the leftover crusts into churros for an unconventional reuse and reheat. The technique with the least desired outcome, however, seems to be from the use of a toaster. According to the pizza specialist, the toaster provides the least amount of practicality and safety and requires monitoring from the moment the reheating begins. The slices burn easily too which we all know is basically pizza blasphemy.

I think we can all agree that pizza is a treasure no matter how you slice it…but how you enjoy the leftovers is a true test. Try out the techniques above and see which one gives you the best results! And of course, when all else fails…you can totally just eat your leftover pizza straight out the fridge at 3am. Trust me, it’s still satisfying.

HEY, PIZZA LOVERS: What You Need To Know Before Your Next, Delicious Slice



First of all, if you don’t answer to the call ‘hey,pizza lovers,’ I have a hard time processing our relationship. But I digress.

A new study is out that determines whether blotting a piece of pizza with a napkin to absorb the grease really amounts to anything. It does, much more than you probably imagine. My enthusiasm about this story is in part because I’ve been on an all-fresh/raw juice diet all day and this is suddenly the only thing I can think about. But let’s get to the meat of the story. Ah…. pepperoni… Okay, I’m focused again… here goes:

A website called Labdoor (which I now will be reading regularly) brilliantly decided to see if it made any difference, and put together an infographic with the results. I’m posting PART of it here… but really to be fair, go visit the article in its entirety.


Researchers used slicesĀ from a 14-inch Domino’s pepperoni pizza. Before dabbing, the slice was 117 calories. But after dabbing, it was 76.5 – cuttingĀ 40 calories and four and a half grams of fat. Pepperoni is aĀ big grease producer, by the way… you’ve seen that swimming pool of grease collect when the edges of the pepperoni curls up – or in cases where the pepperoni stays flat – it just swims across the entire slice. I’m dying for pizza right now.

Americans eat about 23 pounds of pizza every year, amounting to about 87 slices! But if you blot, you’re shaving off enough calories that it’s as if you’reĀ 66 slices per year.
